simple box construction ::: brief update - new release

::: like a sneak attack here comes an unplanned very limited edition new release from simple box construction by a death cinematic. it is a book, titled: HUMMING IN THE WARMTH OF THE TILT. (SBC - 023) of 16 original color photographs, a cd with brand new (yet to be recorded) exclusive music, hand stamped front and back covers, and a poem typed up on 20 year old handmade paper. the pages of the book are the actual photographs, as opposed to pages with photographs printed on them. this makes the books very nice looking but very expensive to produce and forced this edition to be a 'made to order' edition. this means that the edition number is determined by how many people place an order for the book.


::: this release is, also, only available for a limited time. because all copies are made to order this edition will not be available anywhere else or at any other time. to get a copy you must contact me via email, facebook, instagram, even a carrier pigeon (if you can get the fucker to fly over to the detroit area) where i would give the details on how to order. the deadline for this is 5.1.16. after tonight the edition goes into production and no extra copies are going to be made. at which time this edition will go private and all production updates and process photographs will be shared privately via email only with those who have ordered the book. the music for this release will not be made available in any other format or anywhere else, not even streaming on bandcamp. once everything is completed and shipped to their owners then this release will be archived on this site.


::: i can hear it now, "what about the new album or the split with murmur ring?" well, as those who follow these projects on instagram and facebook already know, they are being worked on, vigorously. all that information is coming up in the next update. which you might have to wait for until next week.

::: this is the official pre order of the new a death cinematic release, PRELUDE TO THE NEW WORLD small format hand bound book and THE NEW WORLD full length cd. the images below are of an almost completed album and book cover. some printing and hand stamping still needs to be done. this is a limited edition hand made and hand bound release of 150 copies. the cd and book come in a small hand made and printed wooden box bound in intaglio printing paper and western red cedar veneer. each printed high quality cdr is housed in a hand printed brown paper envelope. to view more detail and production photos for this release please go here. the pre orders should start to ship within the next several weeks.

::: next up is a trailer for a forthcoming video for the title track of the new album, THE NEW WORLD. this video was written directed and edited by U.K. musician and filmmaker, frederick lloyd. he has done outstanding video and film work for numerous bands namely heinali and matt finney and sleepmakeswaves. matt also wrote the story and performed the the reading on THE NEW WORLD track. the full video is coming soon but for now please enjoy the trailer.

::: things here at simple box have been moving slowly but steadily. several things are nearing completion and one is ready for pre order. in addition to the releases mentioned below, a death cinematic has been preparing for the first ever live show, which has yet to be scheduled and writing/ posting things at SLUMBERING IN THE FIRES.

::: coming very soon from small doses records is PRETERNATURAL the ekca liena/ a death cinematic split. the artwork has been finalized and is being sent off to the printers. laid out and designed by dan (ecka liena), the artwork includes a photo by each artist and a drawing contributed by simple box construction. this release will be limited to only 96 copies on high quality cdr.

::: also coming very soon on dead accents is the long delayed and highly anticipated a death cinematic/ great falls split. the artwork is ready for the printers and includes layout, design and drwaings by demian johnston (great falls, dead accents) and photography by simple box construction.

::: work has been ongoing for THE NEW WORLD cd and PRELUDE TO THE NEW WORLD small format book. the pre orders for this release will be up shortly.

::: ready for pre order is the YOUR FATE TWISTING, EPIC IN ITS CRUSHING MOMENTS ep. limited edition of 50 high quality printed cdr. it includes the full version of IN THE TUMBLING DAWN LIGHT, THEIR EYES FALL FROZEN THROUGH THE MIST AND RAIN. nearly a half our of music spanning over two tracks. all artwork, design and layout by simple box construction. each hand made cover consists of a hand printed chipboard sleeve with a hand punched window, a high quality premium photo print of the gallow drawing framed in red gum veneer. below are the mock ups of the cover and the drawing. there will be small adjustments and refinements to the final version. a pre order will ensure this release will be mailed out well in advance of the release date.
